Yesterday, I decided to head over to the Quarantine Block in Azys Lla to investigate a rumour I heard during one of my travels about some sort of weird activity there. When I got there, aside from some small creatures hanging around near some entrances, the place seemed abandoned. I looked around for a while to see if I could find something strange, but for the most part, there was nothing out of the ordinary.

However, when I was looking at one of the big tubes, I was momentarily blinded by a flash of light. I'm not entirely sure where it came from, and when I recovered from the brief flash, there didn't appear to be anything different in the area, and I didn't feel any different than before. Maybe a bit of machinery emitted a bright spark or something; everything seemed old there, after all. Either way, I'm sure it was nothing. Later, I told Lyra about it, and she agreed that it was likely nothing.

Just another day in Eorzea, I suppose…

A couple of weeks ago, I began to consider the idea of branching out and learning another method of combat. I mean, I'm already quite proficient with a sword and shield as a Paladin, but I felt like I ought to look into something more long-range for certain situations. So, I gave it plenty of thought, and considered each option, before deciding that maybe I could do well as a Machinist. I discussed the idea with my wife, whose main concern was the possibility of machine parts littering the floor of our room. Thankfully, having promised that I'll keep the floor clean, Lyra liked the idea!

So, last week, I visited Ishgard and began training as a Machinist. From what I understand, there will be more to it than just using a gun, but I'm not yet far enough into my training to start including the other element of it. Speaking of the gun, it does feel weird using a weapon like that, but I'm getting used to it!
