Prologue One – Captured!

Feloni Whitemane, a member of the Adders military, blocked another attack from a Garlean foot soldier as he tried to use his sword to cut her in half. She spun her lance to the side to knock his sword away and thrust in, hitting him in the chest, making him fall.

Blood spurted from his lethal wound as he fell, a bit of it hitting her armor. No sooner then her foe fell then another one came out her with a war cry. She shifted to her left foot and made him go past her then lowered her lance to the back of his legs and tripped him up. As he fell on his back she stabbed down into his chest. He shuttered and died.

As she prepared to confront another attacker, they both stopped as they heard an earth shattering scream. Both looked up and their eyes widened as they saw the worst thing another in Eorzea would see, a primal. And not just any primal….

The elder primal, Bahamut.

Standing as tall as a mountain, with a wingspan to match, it was the deadliest of all primals. As it screamed again, Fel and everyone on her side received a message on her link pearl. As she listened to the order to retreat, she saw her opponent get a message as well. He just looked at her and nodded. She did as well and they both turned and ran back to their lines.

As she ran, she heard another roar and looked up. Bahamut opened its mouth and looked to be ready to fire a beam of energy. Fel ran faster.

Then the beams fell all over the battlefield. Being a miqo'te, Fel was able to run in a quick zigzag pattern, avoiding most of the hits, her teammates were not so lucky. She saw people get hit and their screams as they died. She tried to speed up, but after avoiding another beam, one fell right in front of her, throwing her off her feet. Her head slammed into a nearby boulder, and she passed out.

She woke up with a kick to her stomach. She moaned and and slowly opened her eyes. One seemed to be covered in blood, from her head wound. She tried to move her arms, but they were tied behind her back. She looked up and saw the person who kicked her. It was a male roegadyn wearing an officer's uniform. He smiled down at her. “Looks like this stray cat finally woke up!”, he chuckled. Some of the others soldiers laughed as well, Fel noticed none of the female soldiers did, opting to look away.

He reached down pulled her up roughly by one arm, making her cry out as she felt her should dislocate. She got her feet under her quickly enough to not tumble over. It was then she noticed there were other prisoners as well, as she saw hyurs, elezens, and even a lalafell. She also saw all 3 grand companies were represented.

The roegadyn pushed Fel into the arms of 2 soldiers and boasted, “You are a prisoner of the Garlean Empire! Behave and you just might survive.” He laughed again as they were lead away, toward the distant castrum.

Prologue Two – Prisoner!

Fel and the others were taken to Castrum Centri and processed as prisoners. During the entire process, the roegadyn centurio of the garlean forces that lead them in, one Centurio Active Roach, lived up his name. He seemed to be the worst of what a person could be. He led with an iron fist and even punished his own men as much as the prisoners he was in charge of.

Fel shivered every time the captain stared at her. His eyes looked hungry with a wicked grin on his face. As soon as they were processed and sent to cells, the captain decided to interrogate Fel right away. After being gone for an hour, she was returned to her cell. Her fellow prisoners noticed the back of her outfit and back had long whip marks with long red streaks. Her fellow cellmates tried to help, but all they could do was staunch the bleeding. Fel took it in stride but refused to talk about it.

This went on for several weeks. Her cellmates noticed as time went on, her demeanor changed. Her defiance slowly was whittled away. Then into the 3rd month of captivity, she came back, being carried by 2 female soldiers. They knew something was wrong by the look on her face. Her eyes seemed vacant. The lalafell prisoner asked what happened as Fel was taken over to her cot and noticed blood running down the inside of her legs. She turned back to the two and screamed at them. “What did you do?!”

The two soldiers looked away in shame. One stuttered, “I-I'm sorry.”

The lalafell's hands became fists and she shook angrily. “Is this something all the people of Garland are like?” Before the person could answer, she continued. “Please let his direct superior know this happened.”

The garlean soldier just nodded and left the cell. The lalafell went over to Fel, who was on her bunk, her legs up to her knees. A fellow Hyer female was rubbing her back, clearly distressed. The lalafell sat on the bed in front of Fel and rubbed her leg and smiled. “Don't worry. You don't have to go back.” Fel didn't answer, just stared down at her feet.

3 days later……

Since Fel was brought back to the cell, nothing happened. Then after the 3rd day, several people walked into the block. A women in black and white armor was walking down the hall, followed by the two female soldiers that were there before. In between them, with his arms tied behind his back, was the captain. The look on his face showed that he knew he fucked up bad. The group stopped in front of their cell. The woman in armor looked to the two soldiers. “Put him on his knees.” Her voice sounded modulated.

She looked into the cell. “My name is Tribunus Laticalvius Livia sas Junius of the XIV Imperial Legion. I've been notified”, and she looked at the one who had talked to the lalafell prisoner, “that Centurio Active Roach broke several Garlean regulations in the treatment of prisoners. Normally I would not care, but my commander, Legatus GaiusVan Baelser, has ordered me to deliver punishment. Who was the injured party?”

The lalafell went over to Fel and pulled her up and brought her over. “This is Feloni. She was the one mistreated.” Fel just looked with a hollow look in her eye.

Livia looked at Fel. As she did, she brought up one of her gunbaghnakhs. “His punishment is in your hands. What is your verdict?”

Fel looked up at Livia, then at the kneeling centurio, and said one word. “Die.”

The gunbaghnakh went off right away, His head popped like a melon at so close a range, splashing Fel's face. She did not even flinch.

Livia lowered her weapon and laughed. “You certainly have courage.” She takes Fel's chin in her hand and makes her look at her. “But I see emptiness in your eyes. When you get back to your home, get stronger and meet me in combat and show me how strong you've gotten.” With that she turns to leave and instructs those with her to clean up the mess.

The others are then informed that of a prisoner exchange in two days.

Prologue 3 – Recovery!

2 days later, the Eorzean Alliance and the Garlean Empire met at a neutral location and exchanged prisoners. Needless to say, when Feloni was passing the negotiators, her face blank and being guided by two others, the conversation became colder. Apologies were given for what happened, but nbo one was in a forgiving mood.

Those that were determined to be damaged either mentally, physically, or both, were taken to New Gridania where there was a healing center. Everyone needing to be there, including Fel, were processed and given rooms. Fel went to the bed and stayed there for the rest of the day, her arms wrapped around her legs, eyes staring straight ahead. It was late, so the staff waited till morning to feed everyone who arrived.

Because of what happened in the prison, only female staff was allowed to service Fel's room. As morning came, the staff member who fed her saw her in the same position. The elezen, Evelyn, told her she would be her helper for as long as she was here. When no response came, Evelyn guided Fel to the small table and chair and gave her her breakfast. Dodo eggs, hash browns, buttered toast, and sheep's milk. After setting everything down, she waited for Fel to eat. When after several minutes she did not move, Evelyn signed and let her supervisor know by link pearl that she would be with her charge a little longer. She then cut up her toast and eggs into small bites and fed her. At first she afraid Fel would not chew and swallow, but was relieved when she did. Evelyn tried to talk as she ate to get her to say something, but nothing worked. After breakfast, she helped her remove her hospital clothes and gave her a bath in the tub there. As she finished and was ready to leave, Evelyn tried one last time to get her to talk. It did not work so she let Fel on her bed.

The next day, Evelyn was walking to work and noticed a tow little girls talking to each other, or one talking and the other was not. As she watched the one talking girls pulled out a stuffed chocobo out of her backpack and show it to the other one. After hugging the toy for a few minutes, she started to talk. Inspired by this, Evelyn bought one and brought it to Fel. “I thought you might like a friend with you. So here you are. Take good care of her.” For several minutes nothing happened, then Fel reached out and grabbed the toy and looked at it till she hugged it to her chest.

Evelyn smiled. “You know, you have to give her a name.” Fel look at her then at the chocobo. Then for the first time since she got there, she spoke.

“Swiftfeather.”

Evelyn smiled. “That's a pretty name.” Fel just hugged Swiftfeather close to her again.

For the next two years, Fel improved slowly. She was able to bathe and eat herself after the first year. She also almost never let go of Swiftfeather except to bathe. Soon Fel was going to the communal cafeteria to eat her meals. Evelyn praised her for this and nothing happened for a couple of years, that is until another female patient tried to take Swiftfeather from her.

Evelyn was talking to another staff member when she heard the scream. She turned to see Fel was holding down another patient, her arm behind her back. The other arm was holding Swiftfeather. Evelyn also noticed the look on Fel's face. She was angry. Her eyes were narrowed and her teeth clenched. “Give Swiftfeather back to me!”, she yelled.

“Fel!”, Evelyn yelled as she ran to her, but then two of the male staff entered the room. “Wait! Don't approach her!”

Her warning came too late. As the two tried to grab each of her arms, she let the other girl go, who promptly dropped Fel's chocobo and ran. Fel turned as one tried to grab her left arm and turned fast and brought her right palm up and slammed it into his chest, making him move back several feet. The other tried to grab her right arm but she leaned back, making him miss and had her right leg catch him in his side and he fell to his knees. It was then the other one tried to grab her into a bear hug, Fel jumped up and over him to land behind and wrap him in a choke hold.

As he choked, Evelyn ran up and grabbed Swiftfeather and yelled to Fel. “Fel! I have her! I brought her back to you!” She head the toy in front of her. “Here!” Fel saw Swiftfeather and stopped chocking ther male staff member and left him drop to the floor, getting his air back into his lungs. Fel grabbed her chocobo and hugged it to her, Her face changed from anger to happiness, then back to her neutral expression.

Evelyn guided Fel to the door to the dorms. “Let's get you back to your room.” She looked back to the male staff members. “I'll take it from here. Report to the administrator and tell him what happened.” the two nodded and walked away.

Evelyn lead Fel back to her room and tucked her in. She then went to the administrator's office. The admin, Doctor Mittejen, listened to what Evelyn told her. The doctor sighed. “I realize we made a mistake, sending in the two male staff. However it does not excuse what she did to the other patient.”

Evelyn shook her head. “Deealin was warned about taking things from other people. She just picked the wrong person this time. I'm sure she will think twice before doing back again. Her arm is sprained but not broken. And those other two got off lucky.”

Mittejen shook his head. “The fact is she attacked someone. I'm going to have to restrict her to her room. I do not want a repeat of this again.” He picked up Fel's file and looked at the dead-eyed face in the photo. “The fact she did respond means she is in there, wanting to get out. I'll need to bring in a specialist. She is an experienced conjurer who has helped us with other cases similar to this. I'd like you to see her about helping us.”

Evelyn nodded. The admin gave her a file. On it was the picture of a female miqo'te with a serious face. Mittejen spoke about what she was looking at. “Her name is Tetakai Narukami and I think she is only hope of helping our patient recover.”

Prologue 4 – Therapy – Part 1

Evelyn stopped in front of the arch that led to the mansion she was visiting. She had heard about Sundown before, mostly from the reports given to her to read by the director. This was the guild that people went to to take care of difficult issues. She just hoped that the people she needed to talk to could help Feloni.

After taking a few steps in, she stopped and stared at the front of the mansion. She blinked, and yep, two dinosaur skeletons. Shaking her head, she entered the guild house. Looking around, she looked around the spacious foyer. Several people, some in armor and some in crafter wear, were around talking or working. As she looked for someone to talk to, she felt a hand on her leg. “Hey sweetie. Need help?”

She looked down to see a male lalafell smiling up at her. “I'm looking for Tetakai Narukami. Do you know where she is?” Evelyn then looked down and stared at her leg, still being touched by the lalafell. “Do you mind?”

“What? Oh.” the lala removed his hand. “Sorry, force of habit.” He rubbed his hand on his pant leg. “Leoh! Can you come over here?”

Evelyn turned in the same direction and saw a male miqo'te with black hair dressed as a red mage. She thought briefly 'wonder how he looks in a speedo' before shaking her head to clear it and smiling as he faced her.

Leoh smiled and bowed. “Hello, U'leoh Tia at your service. How can I help you?” Evelyn smiled. “Yes. I'm Evelyn, from the Adders Therapy House and I am here to see Tetakai Narukami.” She held up a folder. “I have a case I need her help with.”

Leoh nodded and looked at the lala. “Ayef, can you please find Teta and bring her to the lounge?” He turned back to Evelyn. “Please come with me.” Leoh led her over to a small area that faced a lit fireplace. As they sat down, Leoh asked, “What made you come to us?”

Evelyn leaned back in her chair. “ I'd like to wait so I don't want to have to repeat my story.” She saw the lalafell, Ayef, come back with 2 female miqo'te and a male elezen. She stood up. “Tetakai Narukami?”

The dark haired one in white nodded with a smile. “That would be me. I understand you were looking for me?” She offered a small bow . Leoh sighed and introduced the other two. “These other two are Lyra Chattran and Thurlan Elessar.” Leoh pointed first to the female catgirl, who 'Nyan'd' in response, and then the male elezen, who nodded.

Evelyn bowed. “Please to meet you.” She turned back to Teta. “Will they be joining us?” Teta just sighed and looked over at her two companions. “…Maybe. Let's talk about why you are here first.”, she said, sitting down.

“Of course.” Evelyn sat back down and relayed the story of Feloni to everyone. After she finished, everyone had a different reaction. Leoh looked down concerned, Thurlan looked concerned for Lyra, as she had tears in her eyes, no doubt thinking of Feloni's issues. But it was Teta's reaction that made Evelyn lean back. If it was possible to burn someone to ash with a look, Teta had that look.

Teta looked down, eyes closed, hands into fists. After a few moments she looked back up. “I'll help her, don't worry.” She turned to the others. “I…could use your help.”

Lyra tilts her head. “Our help?” Teta nodded. “I'm confident that I can help her, but she'll need to re adapt to the world around her, and I can't do that alone."

Lyra smiled and nodded. “I'll be happy to help! Thurlan will too! Right Thurlan?” She turned toward her companion. Thurlan nodded. “It is the least we can do.”

Leoh stood up. “Well, that sounds like a plan. I'll leave everything to you, Teta. I'll report to Izzy and let them know where you will be,”

Evelyn looked around. “Izzy?” Leoh smiled again. “Izuna Yuki, the leader of Sundown. She needs to know when anyone in our company goes on a mission.” Leoh turned back to Teta. “Good luck all of you.” Leoh bowed to Evelyn and walked away.

As Evelyn watched him walked away, she heard Teta talk again. “Like the view?” She quickly turned to Teta, who was smirking. Lyra giggled and Thurlan smiled. Evelyn blushed.

Lyra finished giggling. “Don't worry about it. Leoh has that effect all the ladies!” She got up. “Well, Feloni needs our help, so we should get going.”

Teta nodded. “I think you two should bring your gear. There's something unsettling about all this…” Thurlan looked at her. “One of your premonitions?”

Teta nodded. “I feel like if we don't help her, she might be lost forever.” She looks at everyone. “We'll leave in 30 minutes.”

I like it! Lyra can be so silly giggling and smiling that same way. But Lyra (neither me IRL) talk for Thurlan or speak on "we" (I don't want to be a controlling girlfriend) But yeah, you got the nya-chan!

Prologue 5 – Therapy – Part 2

Evelyn arrived at the Adder's Therapy House with the 3 members of Sundown. Staff and patients stared at the adventurers as they made their way to the director's office. Dr. Mittejen looked up and saw who it was. “Ah, Evelyn. And I see you brought back Tetakai.” He smiles at her. “I hope you can help us with our latest case.” He looked at the other two with her. “And these are your teammates?”

Teta bowed, nodding toward her friends. “Please meet Lyra Chattran and Thurlan Elessar. I have a feeling I will need their help.” Her companions offered a curtsy and a bow. Dr. Mittejen nodded to them, then turned back to Teta. “So do you wish to start now? I can have Evelyn to Feloni's room.”

Teta nods, and she and the others follow Evelyn down the hall to the women's dorm. They get to her room and she turns to Teta. “There is more you need to know, but we feel it best if you can get Fel to tell you about it.” She turns back to the door and knocks. Hearing a response, she entered. The others saw the room was bright and sunny. There was a desk that had crayons and drawings on it, with more drawing on the wall above. A bookcase carried some children's books. Some stuff animals scattered around, a full size bed had more plushies. Sitting on the bed, holding a stuffed chocobo was a female adult miqo'te. She smiled as Evelyn entered the room, but then saw the others entering.

Fel stood, hugging her plushie against her chest. “Evelyn? Who are these people?” She said nervously. Evelyn smiled and stepped around behind Fel and placed her hands on her shoulders, turning her to face the new arrivals and smiled. “Well, remember when I said some friends were coming here to help? This is them.” She points to each one of them. “This is Teta, Lyra, and Thurlan.” Fel looked at each in turn then did a short curtsy. “H-hello…”, she said quietly.

Lyra walked up and gave a happy “Nya!” to the shy miqo'te. She then looked down at her stuffed chocobo. “Oh! He is very cute! What is his name?” She exaggerated her expressions as she talked to Fel, which made her open up more. She then dragged her over to her bed, where they talked some more. Evelyn went over to Teta. “What do you think?”

Teta watched as Fel and Lyra interacted. To her, Lyra was being genuinely interested on what Fel was saying, while Fel talked about things that someone with the mental age of 7 would be interested in. After watching for several more seconds, she spoke to Evelyn. “I believe she is genuine. With what she went through as a prisoner of the Garlean Empire, she has to have hid all those pains behind a mental barrier and regressed back to a simpler time. We need to bring her back to her self, but I don't think it'll be that simple.” She smiled a little smile. “In some ways I envy her. To be able to get rid of bad memories so easily.” She sighed and walked forward and knelt in front of Fel. “Hello Fel. My name is Teta.”

Fel looked at Lyra, who nodded, then back at Teta. “Hi. Do you like chocobos?” Teta smiled and nodded. “I do. I even have my own. His name is Hakuca. What is your chocobo's name?”

Fel talked into her plush's head. “Swiftfeather.” She hugged it tighter.

Teta nodded to the plush. “Nice to meet you, Swiftfeather. He looks very brave.”

Fel nodded. “She does! She helps keep the bad men away!” Feloni appeared a bit more animated as she spoke. “They try to get me every night!”

Lyra spoke up. “Bad men? What do they look like?”

Fel shivered a bit. “They…wear black cloaks and red masks.” She saw Teta's upset frown and hid her face in Lyra's shoulder. “I'm sorry.”

Teta sighed and smiled. “I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at the bad men. We can get rid of the bad men if you want us to.”

Hope came into Fel's eyes. “Really?” Teta nodded and Fel smiled. “Thank you!” She then hugged Teta.

Teta was startled but then calmed down and hugged Fel back. “You're welcome.” Teta stood up and looked at Thurlan. “We are going to set camp in here then see what we can do about these 'bad men'.”

Fel got wide eyed and raised her arms in the air and yelled, “Yay! Slumber Party!”

Everyone had a different reaction.

Evelyn raised an eyebrow.

Thurlan smiled.

Lyra let out a 'NYA!”

Teta facepalmed, mumbling to herself. "…This is going to be a while." Then she turned to Fel and smiled. “Sounds fun.”
